BCR; a ball closure ring has a ball with two machined dimples to clip the ring onto. This is the most popular ring for body piercings and the easiest to put in.

Segment rings; smooth rings that can be rotated 360 degrees in your piercing. A small segment of the ring clips in and out, much the same as a ball closure ring.

Bar closure ring; a straight bar can be removed on these rings which is normally worn inside the piercing.
